Our Internship Business Placements in China

Our Internship Business placements offer volunteers a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience in China's capital city. Shanghai is a burgeoning market at a very exciting cusp in its development - there has never been a better time to live and work here.

We have been working in partnership with both Chinese national firms and large international companies in Shanghai for over five years. According to their preference, volunteers can work in a variety of disciplines including marketing, communications, public relations, interior and graphic design, architecture, law, and property development. Regardless of which company the volunteers work in they are always placed in a vibrant, fast-paced environment.

The Role of the Volunteer

During their placement, volunteers are expected to be punctual and professional and are required to work an average of 40 hours per week (usually Monday-Friday, 9-5). While learning from experienced business professionals, volunteers are also required to work hard. Essentially volunteers take the role of unpaid employees since they are used to their full capacity and often given important tasks with great responsibility. Volunteers can often be an asset to the company they work for, and in return they gain a level of experience which would not be possible in the West.

Volunteers could be involved in the following tasks depending on the placement and the skills of the volunteer:
  • events marketing
  • events organisation & planning
  • help with the launching of new brands
  • desk research
  • interviews with company executives
  • developing texts
  • writing and editing material for books, magazines and websites
  • developing marketing materials
  • attending trade fairs, seminars and conferences, Chamber of Commerce events, and other networking functions
  • assisting with events/exhibition coordination
  • assisting with media liaison & PR strategy
  • assisting with communications/office functions
  • preparing evaluation forms
  • improving business plans
  • text proofreading
  • text drafting
  • studying data & collating statistics
  • telesales
Whatever the placement, volunteers are always employed to their full potential and gain an invaluable first-hand experience of the business world.
